What’s the Difference Between Indica vs. Sativa?

In order to know what type of bud is right for you, it’s important you know some basic information about marijuana strains. While technically all strains are somewhat hybrid, there are indica-dominant strains and sativa-dominant strains. While every single marijuana strain is unique and will illicit effects for users that may vary person-to-person, there are some general traits that tend to run in the indica plants and likewise, other effects known to be caused by sativa plants. There are also amazing hybrids that combine the effects of both worlds.

  • Indica: Indica strains usually have a higher ratio of cannabidiol (CBD) to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Indica-dominant buds are known to produce a heavier body buzz. This effect is good at helping people get to sleep and also for pain and other medical ailments. Indica strains are popular among medical marijuana patients. If you plan on doing some serious relaxing, even vacationing, be sure to include a nice indica strain in your summer.
  • Sativa: Sativa strains are usually more uplifting. They do not make you sleepy and are a good type of bud to smoke during the day when you need to get things done. If you got some projects you’re planning on doing this summer, you might want to pick up a sativa-dominant strain of cannabis.
